Philip Maechling is the Historic Preservation Officer and Preservation Planner for Missoula’s Office of Planning and Grants. He has held these positions since 2001. Within these roles, Mr. Maechling is involved with historic and cultural resource documentation, evaluation, planning and education for the City of Missoula and Missoula County.
The Historic Preservation Officer is also an advisor on historic and cultural resources for land use and development projects, Section 106, NHPA compliance, local historic preservation program management, and provides staff support to the Missoula Historic Preservation Commission. Mr. Maechling is also a member of the Montana Heritage Commission.
